Good morning everyone. Today we are looking at another tough card - The 8 of Cups. Do not dread this card but welcome it as a sign of healing and being ready to move on in your life.
The 8 of Cups is another card that triggers feelings of grief and loss. Regardless of who makes the decision or what the situation is there is a sacrifice required where what has been built on in the past must be left behind and you must move forward and abandon what has gone before. (The 8 cups in the foreground represent the emotional investment involved)
The number 8 is the product of 4 and 2 and therefore has the stability of the number 4 in it but is expanded with the energy of the 2. 8 is generally a number of material success, the products of investments, rewards for efforts, justice and fairness. The number 8 therefore represents development and expansion of security and stability for firmer foundations resulting in personal growth.
The Eight of Cups
With the 8 of Cups what you see is the emotional investment in a situation and the feeling that more is needed. That is something is missing. You may have enjoyed a relationship or situation that was comfortable and there was stability, peace and security but something is not right here and you are not happy. What you have is not enough or is not right for you in some way. It is time to move on. There is sacrifice involved as all the Cups are left behind in this image and there is a sense of abandonment as we see the man walking off into the distance but this movement forward and away is necessary for further growth and fulfilment in life. New relationships, new friends a new job or new home are all on the horizon when this card turns up. Mostly I see this card when one is in the acceptance stage that a relationship has finished regardless of who ended the relationship. You need to get to this point of letting go in order to move forward. Sometimes this doesn’t happen for several months when there is unfinished business or things are not final. When you see this card try to see the positive in it – meaning you have cleared your energies ready for love and happiness to come into your life again.
It is important to note that this card can turn up in relation to anything where there has been a significant emotional investment - not just one on one romantic relationships. It could also relate to children, a close friendship or a particular goal, project or even career. It is the feeling associated with it that is important to recognise.
Keywords: moving on, sacrifice, personal development, Leaving behind something or a past relationship.
The feeling of the need to move on is even stronger in the reverse however there is a danger that poor judgement may result in walking away from something for the wrong reasons or because you are seeking adventure, change and wanting something a bit more risky rather than valuing the stability and security of the safe environment you have. Maybe this situation has more to offer than is immediately apparent so its best not to resort to drastic action at the moment as there may be regret.
Keywords: abandoned success, reconsider all options. There may be hidden value.
Take it easy today. Be kind to yourself. Look to the future with positivity. If you are sad about a relationship that has ended remember that you have been happy before and you can be happy again. Being true to yourself and recognising your own worth and the need for balance in relationships (also contained in the meaning of the 8) can bring love back into your life. ♥️🍀🌻🙏
